The importance of eye contact
Hey girls: This is an interesting and important article in today's Wall Street Journal about the importance of eye contact. I was recently with Lucy at Dr. Vic's and I was very impressed with how she interacted with the doctor, and especially with the eye contact that she used during the exchange. Take time to read this article and practice using appropriate eye contact whenever you can.

I'm the guy who controls the butter
Hey girls,
I love this from Howard E. Butt Jr. and Laity Lodge. Be sure to listen to Mr. Butt tell the story in his own voice. It reminds me of our dear Aunt Dianne and those famous words, "Wear a smile, be a friend!"
FABSAW,
Dad

Caddying for Guy
Heading out to River Place Country Club (beautiful but extremely challenging golf course) to caddy for Guy Liljenwall (age 12) today. Looking forward to being back on the bag and a little US Kids golf! Photos below are shots of Guy, checking out Tom Kite plaque, on signature hole #18, during our practice scoot-a-round the course on Thursday evening. We saw some amazing wildlife, including one of the biggest snakes in Austin. The course was designed by Kite, but he refused to put his name on it until it was 'softened up' a bit, after the original construction had too many difficult carries and fairways that could not hold well hit tee shots.
Sally's Home - Yahoo!
It is wonderful to have daughter Sally home for a few days, before she heads to Chicago for the summer. Cathy and Sally made the trip from Savannah, with a quick stop on Jekyll Island to see where it all started 25 summers ago!

Happy Birthday Emily
Reasons we love Emily
Sally:
1. I love Emily's contagious sense of humor and the way she carries yourself with such confidence, making it easy for her to get along with all types of people, even at a weird art school. That will take her far in life.
2. I love how special and fun she makes each time we see each other whether we are in Athens or Savannah and I'm so happy we go to school in Georgia together.
Mom:
1. I love how hard she works and how she never gives up and is always very poised and confident.
2. I love the way she makes everybody around her happy all of the time.
Lucy:
1. I love how she always takes me places and loves to spend time with me.
2. I love how she always calls me and loves to keep in touch even though she is away at college.
Dad:
1. I love how calm Emily is under pressure, like when the lady ran the stop sign and smashed up her car, or when she needs to make a five footer to beat me in a game of 7's.
2. I love how well she has done in school and how she is developing her artistic (right) brain into such an amazing attribute.
Live in Holy Anticipation
Up early and thought this was a winner from Mark Batterson, lead paster of National Community Church in Washington, DC . . .
Five words tell me everything I need to know about Cornelius [in Acts 10]: He prayed to God regularly. Scripture doesn't record exactly when or where or how he prayed. It doesn't reveal whether he prayed in the morning or the evening. It doesn't tell us what he said or the posture he prayed in. It just says he prayed regularly. And when you pray to God regularly, irregular things happen on a regular basis. You never know when or where God will invade the routine of your life, but you can live in holy anticipation, knowing that God is orchestrating something special.Make it a great Monday, May 13th and Happy Birthday Emily!
Like a grandmaster who strategically positions chess pieces on a chessboard, God is always positioning us for divine appointments. And prayer is the way we discern the next move. The plans of God are only revealed in the presence of God. We don't get our marching orders until we get on our knees! But if we hit our knees, God will take us places we never imagined going by paths we didn't even know existed.

Zensah compression socks
Our Fit-as-a-Fiddle Emily, up early on Friday morning, with Savannah in the background for her next-to-last Coach Carter workout of the year! Trying out the Zensah compression socks, that were sent to the team from the Italian clothing company.
Sassy sunhat made out of cardboard
This latest 3D modeling project from Emily called for a hat inspired by unique architecture. She settled on the famous churches of Santorini, Greece. She now wants to know when we can go to Greece!

Autodesk Homestyler
Sally,
It looks like Homestyler has a new website. Interesting how the site partners with various manufacturers, like Kohler and Sherwin-Williams. Check it out when you have a chance.
Love,
Dad
