Happy Birthday Sal Pal

Emily:

(1) I love that Sally has such a good sense of self. She knows who she is and what she wants. So many people look to her for advice and I am lucky to have looked up to her for my whole life. Thank you Sal for always being a leader!

(2) I love Sally’s humor - she is funny and everyone loves her. She can make fun of herself and I love making her laugh. She’s my best friend.

Mom:

(1) I love that Sally gives so much of herself when designing homes and interiors for others. She truly has the magic touch and is always happy to share her talents.

(2) I love Sally’s sense of humor and genuinely funny disposition. She can make me laugh even in the most trying situation. She is a quirky little thing and I love her for it!

Dad:

(1) I am so inspired by Sally's work ethic and her passion for design. She puts so much of herself into her projects and has quickly established herself as a unique talent in her field. She has a rare combination of creativity; plus common sense business skills that are going to take her to the top in whatever she does.

(2) I admire how Sally and T have created such a strong foundation for their marriage. They know that the Lord put them together and they take time to genuinely care for and support each other. They are a team!

Taylor:

(1) Sally is a good friend, both to me and to others. She upholds commitments even when it is uncomfortable or impractical to do so, despite others consistently changing plans on her. Sal goes out of her way to surround herself with solid people, and looks for ways to be generous to them. There would be a line out the door for her if she ever were to need anything.

(2) Sally doesn't take s*** from anybody. With our landlady, Sally uses gentle tactics but manages to get her way in about every situation. In her business world, she demonstrates her talent and impressive skill set while having to manage against not being taken seriously. She has a keenly developed sense of when to fight something versus when to let it go. I'm glad she's on my team!

Lucy:

(1) Wow, my big sister, Sally is 27 today! Sal - I love your hardworking but FUN spirit! You are one of the hardest workers I know, and always go above and beyond - whether in your job or just making a charcuterie board - but always have the most positive attitude while doing it. I am so thankful to have a big sister who wasn't afraid to do what she loves and do it so well. You bring people together in the kitchen, around the table, at work, or anywhere you are!

(2) I love how even after almost 10 years of living in a different state you are so insistent about being a part of my world. 8 years is a big gap but I'm so lucky to call you one of my best friends and to receive so much support from you and T!

Happy Birthday Catherine Singletary - 2 for you!

Birthday girl and her favorite boyfriend

Sally:

I love mom because she is always full of energy. She is the life of the party and loved by so many people. She is the glue for her family and siblings, for us, and for her friends....I don’t know how she does it all!! I hope this year brings Mom joy and fun adventures!!!

Not only does she do it all; but she also always makes everything more fun and is always down for a party no matter how tired she might be. I love that Mom is always the life of the party!

Love you Mom!

Emily:

I love mom for so many reasons. The older I get, the more I understand how lucky we are to have her. She gives the best advise, is hilarious, kind, patient, and smart. She is my role model and best friend and I hope one day to be as good of a mom as she is to us.

I love that mom is ALWAYS willing to help her girls and never even considers saying no. There is no cross country move she can’t handle and no white tee she can’t clean spotless. She is the best mama there is and I am so lucky to have her!

Lucy:

I love how mom is the BEST host! No matter the day, no matter what is going on, she is always ready to welcome everyone into our home! Even when I show up at home with no warning with 4 friends - she will welcome everyone with open arms, and the best part is, she truly enjoys it so much! Her inviting spirit is one of her gifts that makes people feel so loved. I have learned so much from Mom’s hospitality, how it makes people feel, and I hope to carry that value over into my home one day.
I love the phone conversations I get to have with mom. Some are brief and end poorly (like when she told me to get my flu shot) and others are an hour long and we just get to talk all about life! Mom - talking to you is always a highlight and I am so thankful for the ways you love and take care of me, even with a little distance between us. Time with you is the best!

Taylor:

I love and admire my Mother-in-law (MIL) for so many reasons. Number one on my list is because she raised Sally to be the best she could be - friendly, gracious, kind, open-hearted, and generous. She is communicative to all her daughters and very supportive. I am impressed by her mothering of the girls. (Most visible to me - Sal!)

I love that Cathy is the best hostess.  She is open-armed to anyone and everyone and has truly changed my heart with how to make people welcomed and loved. She may be crazy at times (!) but she always loves on people so well. I love spending time with my new family because she is so welcoming and loving.

Page:

Another year with the most amazing wife and mother of my children. I love how she keeps our life so full of fun and laughter. And how she takes such good care of us with healthy food, a beautiful home full of furniture, and three happy girls.

Cathy has been the best life-partner a man could ever hope to have. We had such a fun 'sabbatical' this past summer exploring the East Coast and we have many more adventures to go!

Birkman - Amy Shepley

Hey Lucy,

Are you ready to Make it a Great Monday?

Here's someone you would enjoy getting to know. Amy Shepley is the granddaughter of the founder of Birkman International. You may remember when mom and I did some 'Birkman' work with the local team here in Austin. It is similar to your enneagram testing, with some key differences though that I think you would find very interesting.

Learn more about the Birkman model here.

Ask me how I know Amy and how you can take her to a two-hour lunch one day. Let's make it happen and maybe you can get an internship with Amy and Birkman International one day?

Love you,

Dad

P.S. You should also ask me, 'What is a two-hour lunch?'
