Ho Ho Ho,
It has been nice to have what feels like an extra week of Thanksgiving this year to decompress a bit after Turkey Day and think about what is ahead for December. Mom and I need a few things from each of you in order to make the holidays enjoyable.
First, we would like for each of you to submit a list of things that you already have or things that you get to do for which you are thankful. I would hope that list is easy to compile and somewhat detailed. Second, we would like a Christmas wish list, keeping in mind the budget we discussed. Lucy already did a nice job on her Christmas list. Third, I would like for each of you to suggest some things that you will do to help around the house this holiday season. Let's plan to have a family meeting this Sunday to discuss all of these things. Sally, we will patch you in remotely.
Does that leave you enough time to prepare?
I love you,
Dad

Zig Ziglar (1926-2012)
Zig Ziglar, one of my teachers died today at the age of 86. Zig taught me how to sell. He also taught me about things that really matter in life - like faith and family. You can learn more about Zig here. Or at his Facebook page here. Rest in peace Zig.

Women in the Workforce
Hey girls,
Here's a good article that caught my eye titled Three Things Young Women in Business Need to Know.

Red Hat Society
Emily and her boys (Brad and Marshall) made it safely home from SCAD for the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. They spent the night with (Pop's sister) Aunt Jean Sawyer in Louisiana and had some fun trying on some of her hats. She is a member of the Red Hat Society.

Women Power / Minorities = Obama re-elected
Hey girls,
Lucy, Mom and I were really into watching the election results last night. Lucy reported that 98 percent of Hill Country Middle School voted for Romney. Lucy's teachers showed her how Texas is predominantly conservative, while Austin is predominantly liberal, while Westlake is predominantly conservative. At mom's elementary school on the East side of Austin, the vote was 99 percent for President Obama, just as Lucy learned last night. That is a factor of the minority vote, in this case mom's school being all Hispanic.
Here's an article that Uncle Ricky sent this morning, stressing that Obama winning the women and the minority vote kept him in office. The Republican Party is going to have to find a fiscal conservative, who can appeal to women and minorities to take back the white house.
Onward and upward,
Dad

Notes from the weekend - Make it a great Monday
- Mom and Ann Slack ran yesterday's Susan B. Komen's Race for the Cure in downtown Austin, dedicating their 5K run to Susan Malcom.
- Emily completed another drawing assignment, as her first quarter gets closer to completion. She also won her Ryder Cup style match, teamed with Courtney in her final golf event of the quarter.
- Lucy and friends gathered (pre-game style) to get their game faces on prior to watching Lake Travis come from behind at beat Westlake 14-11 in the closing minutes of a well played game. That's six in a row for the Cavaliers, who claimed the 5A District Title.
- Dad shot his best nine hole score ever at ACC - a one over par 37! He likes his new irons.
- Sally has been investigating Teach for America. Uncle Kelly did Teach for America in Houston and cousin Stew's girlfriend is currently on board in Dallas.
- It's November and we can't wait to get you two college girls home for Thanksgiving!
