NUGGETS FROM DAD began in the fall of 2010 when our oldest daughter left for college. (Make it a Great Monday; Stay Whole Tuesday; Woman Power Wednesday; Make Anything Thursday; and Fit as a Fiddle Friday.) Fourteen years later, we have a UGA grad, a SCAD grad, a Fightin' Texas Aggie grad, and 1500 nuggets! Philippe Petit - Man on Wire
Hey girls. I miss you all! I had a chance to listen to Philippe Petit explain how he does the impossible. Watch this video to get a sense of how interesting it was to listen to Philippe tell stories. And this short video about one of his famous walks across air. I think you will really enjoy listening to him speak about things like passion, intuition, faith, tenacity, and the impossible. One of my favorite parts of his talk, was about how 'problems will whisper solutions, if you just listen to the problem.'
Philippe Petit (French pronunciation: [filip pəti]; born 13 August 1949) is a French high-wire artist who gained fame in 1974 for his high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, on the morning of 7 August.[1] For his unauthorized feat (which he referred to as "le coup"[2]) 1,350-foot (400-metre) above the ground, he rigged a 450-pound (200-kilogram) cable and used a custom-made 26-foot (8-metre) long, 55-pound (25-kilogram) balancing pole. He performed for 45 minutes, making eight passes along the wire. The next week, he celebrated his 25th birthday. All charges were dismissed in exchange for his doing a performance in Central Park for children.
