Not just argument but also STORY

I hope you girls are making it a great Monday. I know Emily has been working on a speech about the book Fast Food Nation. A good speech is really just a good story, and that is the next topic in Daniel Pink's book, A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future.

Pink says:
When our lives are brimming with information and data, it's not enough to marshal an effective argument. Someone somewhere will inevitably track down a counterpoint to rebut your point. The essence of persuasion, communication, and self-understanding has become the ability also to fashion a compelling narrative.
You girls come from a long-line of good story tellers on both sides of the family. You know mom can spin a tale with the best of them. And Pop and his father, PaPa were both world class story tellers. Your Granddaddy Singletary can hold his own at a party or anywhere a good story is needed and his dad was a Baptist preacher, so you know he was a good orator.

This week, we will explore why story is just as integral to the human experience as design.
