Big day tomorrow

Hey you,

How's your Thursday? Ricky and I had a great meeting with my friend Flip Flippen this morning. Flip is doing a lot of work for a company called Compass Learning, which is an Austin-based technology company in the education space. Compass has a job opening at the moment that is right up my ally and would be a really good job. Eric Loeffel is the CEO. Did you know Eric's son, who was on the football team? Curtis? Flip promised me he would put in a good word with Eric.

I love you,

Dad

P.S. Happy Birthday tomorrow!

Day before your birthday girl, We are having a lot of fun with Ricky in town. I have had him scheduled in several interesting business meetings. I just got back from Balfour (where I used to work) and we talked to my old boss about the sports business. What do you think of my churnOn.com logo, which you can see on the home page of my website? There is a smaller version on the other website pages of the logo in a circle. The Churn: churnOn language from John Morton

Hey Sally, How goes your day. I have been working hard on a sales pitch I am making at 4 p.m. to help Forefront Austin nail their business proposition. Check out www.forefrontaustin.com to learn more about this interesting start-up. Also, had an amazing meeting this morning with a gentleman who teaches at St. Edwards in the MBA program. He teaches in their Digital Media area and he asked me to speak to his class as a guest lecturer on entrepreneurship and selling. I think that will be fun! Great quote from John Morton on The Churn today. Sally, How are things back in Athens? I hope spring break was a success and that you are taking care of yourself in every way. We are glad to have Emily back from Mexico. Mom and I had a nice trip to Houston, where I completed my outline for the rewrite of 'Releasing the Churn' and also made some nice progress on my 'call to action' for the website and the blog. This week, I will begin to layout the website so that it answers the question, What is churnOn.com? Any thoughts? Famous to the family

Sally,

I thought this was interesting from Seth Godin, called Famous to the Family.
The race to be slightly famous is on, and it's being fueled by the social and tribal connections permitted by the net. We give a lot of credit and faith to the famous, but now there are a lot more of them. Over time, once everyone is famous, that will fade, but right now, the trust and benefit of the doubt we accord the famous is quite valuable.
Read the entire post here: http://bit.ly/gFNev4 . Have you been thinking about ways to become a little bit famous?

I love you,

Dad

The Churn: Stand by you

Sally, I hope you are having a nice Tuesday. I really like my blog post on 'The Churn' today, because it celebrates our wonderful friend Margot Ritchie and her non-profit AFPYC.com. I hope you will share the post with your friends on Facebook and take a few minutes to look at how well Margot is doing with the non-profit. I will try to get those pictures out to you, but it will be a few days, as I have to figure out how to get them off of my old phone. I am now an iPhone dude. The Churn: Alternative Universe

Sally, Can't wait to see you tomorrow! I wrote a take on an interesting piece about alternative universes this morning. I also sent Bradley J. Moore (the writer) an email and asked him for his advice. Here is what I asked: "You have a Senior Vice President of Sales title and seem to balance that with a passion for writing about work and spirituality. I search for a Senior Vice President of Sales title and share the same writing passion. What can I learn from you about how to succeed in both areas, without inappropriately mixing the two?" Women power, Dad The Churn: Alternative Universe: "The final plate on the resume: For a guy with ten license plates on his resume, this from Bradley J. Moore really hit home. Very funny an..."

The Churn: Look for work, not a job

Sally, Been running hard today from meeting to meeting and all going great. I celebrated my friend John Fees in my post this morning on The Churn. He immediately 'tweeted' the post to his social network, so got some nice publicity in my sweet spot (education and technology.) When you are home this weekend, I can't wait to show you all of the cool companies that I am talking to at the CEO level. Stay whole, Dad The Churn: Look for work, not a job: "Inspired by John Fees: A paradigm shift that works, when looking for work! That is my friend John Fees, a talented entrepreneur and str..."
